Hi, I started off in playwork when I volunteered for two weeks with the Wrexham Play Development team on their summer Playschemes. Having known nothing of playwork before those weeks it was pretty mind blowing and outright magical.
From there I got an 8 hour contract working as a playworker in Plas Madoc in North Wales. Now I’m a full time playworker and the resource officer from the project. When I’m not scrounging for loose parts or modifying I’ll be on the junk playground “The Land” or in some of the other areas in which we run.
That was just over two years ago and now I’m 19. The moment playwork shifted from being a job into being a passion was during the Play Forum 2012. There my perception of play was changed and my mind has been racing ever since. It was as defining for me as watching Gladiator for the first time.
Now my mind questions, analyses and contemplates every little detail I come across hoping to make myself the best possible playworker I can be. My favourite subjects in playwork are happiness, adulteration and modification.
