Psycholudics – an introduction
Psycholudics – the play cycle – what is it? How does it work? In this very interactive and participatory workshop you will be taken on a joyful journey of learning. You will come across all the various bits of language used and what they mean.
You can further unpick it, ask all the questions about the bits you don’t understand and see how the knowledge of psycholudics and the play cycle actually do have a place in everyday playwork.

Advanced Psycholudics – Answering your questions?
Psycholudics is 'the study of the mind and psyche at play,' aiming to describe the process of play as it happens. Since the Colorado Paper (Sturrock and Else) was released in 1998 it has been the basis of many key papers in the playwork field and adopted into working language. However there has been little critique of the basic approaches or adaptation into other ways of working.
Some questions have been raised about the approach:
Which comes first, frame or flow?
Can children adulterate?
Containment = adulteration?
Whose play; is everyone a player in the game?
Are all games shared?
This session is for people who have a working knowledge of The Colorado Paper, the Therapeutic Playwork Readers or The Value of Play?
