Value of play in hospital?

Sue Ware

If any of you who have been a patient or a family member supporting a child/teenager in hospital, you will know what strange and potentially frightening place hospitals can be. The aim of my presentation is to share with you the value and importance of play in hospital and how the different roles of play workers and play specialists support the needs of patients and their families throughout their hospital admission.

The session will combine an interactive presentation with a demonstration of preparation and distraction materials.

Scrapstore Playpods

Kirsty Wilson

Have you seen the DVD? Would you like to know more about the Scrapstore PlayPod?

The Scrapstore PlayPod project works with primary schools to change play at lunchtime, with amazing results. This is done through providing loose parts to play with but also work with the school community to understand and value play in it's own right.

This year we have been working with play provider to deliver Scrapstore PlayPods in new areas.

The workshop will aim to show what the project is about, the impact it has had on primary schools and how it is being rolled out.
